Determined

So, within the past week or so I have figured out that Bennett can be a determined little man when he wants to be. One night last week, I was bathing Drew and had left Bennett out to play in the floor. He wasn't too pumped about that idea, so he inch wormed his little self over to the tub and started trying to reach up the side, complaining the whole time. Drew and I were trying to talk to him and tell him that we were almost done .... well next thing I know I turn to look at him and he is STANDING at the side of the tub!! Drew thought this was quite funny and Bennett was more than proud of himself.

Well, last night was somewhat of the same scenario in the bathroom, except I was showering and had Drew get in with me so I could just bathe Bennett afterward. Our shower is all open with no door, Bennett scoots to the step up, proceeds to wiggle his way up and on to the open platform part of the shower, and then somewhat like a penguin slides on his belly, Bennett just flies right on into the smack middle of the shower! Of course, fully clothed and all! He was super proud of his little achievement until the water was hitting him all in the face. He didn't know quite what to think of that! I just decided to undress him and we all showered together! Party in our shower!! I was out first and grabbed my phone to take a picture of these two cute naked booties.

This reminds me of a time when anna and I were little and we had a baby shower to go to. Anna asked my mom, "Do we have to take our clothes off?" Well, not for that one, but nothin but nudity for this one :) !!
Look at that face... Determination=Achievement!!

Drew's Big Spill

This year we went to Florida the last week in August, the 22nd (Sunday) to be exact. Well on the 20th (Friday) we were playing out in the drive way...I was reading my magazine, Bennett was in the exersaucer and Drew was playing quietly with her toys. All of a sudden she trips and falls (no big deal I thought, that happens all the time) she comes up screaming hysterically saying her face was bleeding.
I turn to look at her and see that the skin has been stripped smooth off! She fell face first into the concrete... I mean nothing else hit, but her face! My mom was just leaving the neighborhood, so I had her come back and help me clean it, which was loads of fun. The skin was so raw! These pictures are of the "booboo" each day as it got progressively worse. It scabbed over quickly, but she had a lot of swelling. I mentioned that we were leaving for Florida two days after this happened... well, the beach was actually the best thing for her. I was worried the salt water would really sting, but it actually didn't and it healed it within like two days! We used the zinc sunscreen that totally blocked out the sun and it was somewhat healing for her face as well. I'll let the pictures say the rest...
Day One... fresh after the fall

Day Two... just waking up and a little swollen

Day Three... eye almost completely swollen shut and headed to the beach

Day Five... after a day in the ocean... almost good as new-almost

Monday after returning from the beach...

It has been right at a month since she fell and you can still see the pink and the scar. We are putting Mederma on it twice daily, and I am praying that it completely goes away sometime in October. Phew... it's no fun when your kids get hurt like that :)

Big 3-0!

Friday I turned the big dirty thirty!! Honestly, it wasn't all that bad. I have lots of things to be thankful for and it was good to celebrate with family and friends. I got lots of great gifts including the beautiful flowers below from my Father and Mother-in-law... I thought they were really really pretty! We didn't do a cake this year, but I did go to Orange Leaf and have some delicious frozen yogurt with lots of great toppings ANNND at my family birthday dinner we are having fresh blueberry cake donuts...mmmmm!!!

These two cuties make 30 worth every year!

Drew goes to the Dentist

Drew had her first visit to the dentist this week and she did great! I was a little worried about it, just because I didn't know how she would react to them wanting to stick stuff in her mouth. She jumped right up in the chair and had a smile on her face the whole time! She got an Ariel toothbrush which she loves and got to pick out toys from the chest. When it was my turn, she kept asking me, "Does that tickle Momma?" I was so proud of her. We go back in six months together... we've made it a Drew and Momma affair!

Look at those pearly whites!

Nice Weather

So, week before last we had some really nice weather. The blanket of humidity seemed to have lifted and even though the temperatures were warm, the air felt so nice. You could actually go outside and breathe. We took advantage of it and spent some time outside. Hopefully this coming week we will get to see some more of that nice weather.

Honey has a double stroller because her grandkids come in sets of two :)

Can you say ORAL phase...

We had seen a snake along the creek bed and Evie was not happy about it

The First Day

This is what Drew's teacher gave me on my way out from dropping her off at her first day of preschool...(along with a package of tissues :)
The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
And know your child must stay.
You've been with her for 3 years now
And have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave her at my side
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow
I'll love her as I would my own
And help her learn and grow.
I do know how quickly the years can pass
I too have dropped my child at class.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tear no more
For I will love her and take her in
When you leave her at my door.
**********
Pulls at your heartstrings doesn't it?! Although, actually, I didn't cry today. Drew was so excited and so happy, I just couldn't find it in me. I think the thing that makes today so emotional isn't that she is gone from me, I mean she is only there for 2 and a half hours, mother's day out was twice that long... it's the fact that it is the beginning of it all...like she's teetering at the top of the hill, but soon the ball will be rolling and off we go...kindergarten, middle school, high school- I've got to stop there- the lump in my throat is steadily growing! At least I can say it is a wonderful beginning to it all. Drew was so excited and I am more than happy about the sweet little preschool where she will spend the next two years. Here are a few pictures from our morning.

Drew, Brandan and Brandan's twin (aka Bennett)
Brandan waited to go to work so he could go with us to preschool
The backpack is as big as she is...

I love this picture

Ready to go!
